  • The UK Medical Research Council (MRC) is inviting applications for its open link grants in molecular and cellular medicine. The awards aim to facilitate collaboration between academia and the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. Eligible organisations include UK higher education institutions, research council institutes and independent research organisations. Awards last up to five years. Deadline: 4pm, 9 May 2007.
  • The UK's Natural Environment Research Council (Nerc) invites applications for its Connect A scheme. This aims to promote interaction between researchers and the beneficiaries of research, such as industry, commerce, business or public sector agencies. Maximum available funding is £4000. No deadline.
  • The European Chemical Industry Council is inviting applications for its innovative science award. The award, worth Euro100,000, is presented to an individual for the conception of an interdisciplinary research project in toxicology. It covers the field of ecotoxicology, including but not limited to: eco-quality, eco-epidemiology, eco-relevance of risk assessment procedures and alternative methods in ecological safety. Preference will be given to career scientists with active involvement in interdisciplinary research. Deadline: 8 June 2007. 
  • Merck Sharp and Dohme (MSD) has launched its 2007 research and travel grant scheme. The MSD Research Experience Grant is aimed at enabling undergraduates to participate in scientific research during the summer. msdresearchgrant@merck.com
