RSC Contributes to Virtual Journals in Science and Technology
21 January 2009
Selected articles from RSC Journals are now included in the Virtual Journals in Science and Technology series, sponsored by the American Institute of Physics and the American Physical Society. Each of the virtual journals presents an online collection of relevant papers from a broad range of "source" journals in the physical sciences selected by expert editors.
Participating RSC journals include ChemComm, Dalton Transactions, Journal of Materials Chemistry, Lab on a Chip, Molecular BioSystems, Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry, Soft Matter and Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics.
"We're delighted to collaborate with AIP and APS on their Virtual Journals in Science & Technology series," said Dr. John Haynes, Editorial Director, RSC Publishing. "Virtual publications are a forward-looking solution, allowing readers to search the ever-growing body of scientific literature quickly and effectively. Adding RSC's high-impact journals to the list of prestigious titles included in the Virtual Journals will bring our research articles to an even more diverse readership than before."
From the user's perspective, the virtual journals look and feel like "real" journals, providing useful features such as:
- Tables of Contents
- Freely available abstracts
- Links to source journal home pages, abstracts, and full-text articles
- Searching the virtual journals
- E-mail alerting
Subscribers to the source journal will be able to seamlessly access the full-text articles, while non-subscribers will have the option to purchase articles for immediate online delivery. Subscribers also have the ability to search across all issues of the virtual journal.
