Proceedings Publication Programme

Organising a Conference or Symposium?
Publish Your Proceedings with the RSC

The Royal Society of Chemistry will undertake to publish a series of related books, for example proceedings from annual conferences or meetings with a common theme, and will also publish in book form lectures presented at short courses and workshops. Are you organising a conference or symposium? It couldn't be easier to publish your proceedings with the RSC just follow our step by step guide.

Step One
Contact us and begin discussions on the publication of the proceedings well in advance of the meeting.

Step Two
Appoint editors and ensure that the speakers are given ample warning of the intention to publish the proceedings. (If you are unable to appoint editors, the RSC would be able to help by suggesting a guest editor for the book). We can then discuss the possibility of including the cost of the proceedings volume in the registration fee resulting in generous discounts offered to all participants!

Step Three
A Memorandum of Agreement will then be negotiated between the appointed editors and the RSC. This ensures that all relevant details regarding the publication are set out in writing. You will then have to sign the Memorandum of Agreement.

Step Four
Send all necessary typing and licensing materials to the speakers two to three months prior to the meeting so that camera-ready papers and disks can be submitted at the meeting itself. This is necessary as the volumes are produced by direct reproduction from authors' camera ready typescripts. Author Guidelines, a  Template and Template Instructions are available at the bottom of this page to help authors type their papers in the required style. See also Guidelines for Editors of Camera-Ready Proceedings and Guidelines for Authors in Camera-Ready Proceedings.

Step Five
Hold the meeting and collect the papers.

Step Six
Within six to eight weeks of the meeting, editors will need to finalise the typescript and submit it to the RSC along with copyright licences, contents list, preface and any electronic material they have. A Template is available at the bottom of this page to aid the production of the contents list.

Step Seven
We will paginate the typescript and send a copy to the editors to prepare the Index. The final volume should be published within six months of the meeting having taken place. Editors and principal authors will be sent complimentary copies of the volume.

The RSC hopes to be with you every step of the way at your next meeting.
