Chartered Scientist (CSci)
The Science Council awards the designation of Chartered Scientist (CSci). Professional scientists can register for CSci through authorised Licensed Bodies. Details of CSci including benefits are available at the Science Council's website.
The RSC became a Licensed Body of the Science Council on 1 January 2004. All those awarded Chartered Chemist (CChem) after that date are given the opportunity to register with the Science Council as a CSci. There is an annual fee of £25 for all RSC members registered as CSci. This a separate registration fee and not covered by RSC membership subscriptions.
The Science Council requires all CSci holders to submit a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) record every 5 years in order to remain on the CSci register. The RSC has no plans to implement a similar requirement for holders of CChem although it expects its members to be committed to maintaining their expertise through CPD activity.
If you are an existing CChem and want to register as a CSci, please contact the Admissions and Qualifications department who will send details of the assessment process.
