British Library Document Supply Service for individual RSC Members

Note: all requests will be liable for an extra copyright fee.  This is mandatory.  If your work is for 'research & private study please email the Library and Information Centre

There are two services from the British Library to help you:

1. British Library Direct
2. Articles Direct             

• British Library Direct    

When to use:  use this service to search articles by keyword from 20,000 journal titles.  Once you have chosen the articles you want you can order them from the British Library using your credit card. You do not need to register if all you want to do is search the database, but you do need to register if you want to order documents.

Note: only five years worth of data is currently searchable.  If the document you want is over five years old please click on Blank Order Form on the British Library Direct site.  This takes you to the Articles Direct service.

Delivery: You can also request the document to be sent by Secure Electronic Delivery via pdf or post.  For those of you who wish to order via pdf you need to download Adobe Reader version 6 or later versions.

Searching tip:  you can search directly for journal titles by using all the words in the title or the ISSN.  An advanced search is in development.

• Articles Direct    

This service can be accessed from the British Library Direct site by clicking on Blank Order Form.  You can also order via the British Library Integrated catalogue.

When to use:  when you know most of the bibliographic details of your article including journal title, year, volume, issue number, pagination, author and article title.

Note: this is a template request form only not a search engine.  You can order any article from the British Library and not restricted to a date range. You can also order via the British Library Integrated Catalogue.
