Additives 2009: Fuels and Lubricants for Energy Efficient and Sustainable Transport
27 - 30 April 2009, York, United Kingdom
The Programme
Many challenges face the transport industry in simultaneously meeting the needs of vehicle owners and of government legislators. Targets for exhaust emissions, fuel economy and vehicle recyclability have to be accompanied by increased engine durability, extended lubricant drain intervals and improvements in vehicle performance and refinement. The conference focussed on the developments of fuel and lubricant additive technology in meeting these challenges.
The 2½ day conference also addressed the challenges facing the fuels and lubricants industries in meeting the needs of their customers whilst at the same time responding to environmental legislation. Plenary lectures by speakers from the Automotive (Iveco), Oil (BP) and Additive (ATC) industries were followed by industrial and academic speakers reporting on their current work to address these issues.
As in all previous conferences there was a session on Friction and Wear that allowed chemists and engineers to come together to share their ideas: the interchange between chemists and surface engineers will continue to be of importance for future technology developments. This conference had a session on Environmental Issues for the first time, although previous conferences did have environmental matters as an underlying theme.

Additives 2005
Additives 2005 was held in Dublin in April 2005. Tthe conference attracted 200 of the world's leading experts in lubricant and fuel interactions, lubricant additives, testing, friction and wear. The introduction to additive technology training day run prior to the conference (hosted by Infineum and Associated Octel) was well attended.
